Hey, we haven't had much conversation recently, so I felt the need to post anything that could start one. So there's this horror movie cliche called 'final girl', the aspect of a final girl are she's generally the main character and the one to defeat the villain, she always survives, and she avoids the average vices of her peers, basically sex and drugs. You can find info on it here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Girl. They're in almost every horror movie, and, uh, Brigitte's one. Fuck she's even in the wikipedia list of final girls. Comments?

hmm, I did not find much of Final Girl in that link.. Brigitte may defeat the villain, but she does not always survive per say.. She probably died, or turned in Snaps Back.. And the ending of Unleashed is not very stereo typical 'final girl' as you describe 'final girl' that is.. But apart from that, yes she is very much a 'final girl'. she exhibits intelligence, curiosity, and vigilance. she's 'sexually unavailable', among other things.

Uh, yeh, just take away the full stop at the end of that link, for some reason it included it when it shouldn't have.
And Brigitte's a final girl in Ginger Snaps, not necessarily in the other two.

Man, I'm actually sick of some of Halloween's legacies...
Anyways, I don't think that B would qualify as a "final girl", because she goes against conventions. Plus, Ginger Snaps is smarter than most movies of the genre.

I agree that Brigitte definatly goes against general conventions, just not necessarily this one. I mean just look at the aspects of the 'final girl': "The final girl is typically sexually unavailable or virginal, avoiding the vices of the victims (sex, narcotic usage, etc). " Yup. "She sometimes has an androgynous name (e.g. Teddy, Billie, Georgie, Sidney)" Okay, no. "occasionally has a shared history with the killer" Hell yes. "The final girl is the "investigating consciousness" of the film, moving the narrative forward and as such, she exhibits intelligence, curiosity, and vigilance." Yes again. And of course she is the one left alive to confront and kill the killer. Uh-huh. Just look at the list, Brigitte may go about it in an unconventional way, but in the end she is definatly a final girl. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Final_Girls#F

That article is no longer up. It says something when Wikipedia takes an article down. I think "final girl" only applies when either all the others are killed, such as in a slasher film. This was not a slasher film.
There was also no "enemy" here. Brigitte was not out to kill the monster. She was out to cure it. She killed it only when cornered, and not after it had killed everyone.

(not the cream... now I'm hungry) I think this list is something I'm going to try to avoid now when writing a story. I just realized how almost all horror movies are like this. GS is half like this, but hardly half. GS is awesome, but we all knew that
