After all this time and I just realized something about Ginger.
At the beginning she's grooming Brigitte to commit suicide with her. That's what the whole slide show was about, grooming Brigitte!
If you look at one of the earliest shots of Ginger, on the bed next to her is a large toy rat that's the same color as her hair! You might not remember seeing it, but you did, because its length takes up one-quarter of the screen, right as Ginger says, "You jazz me on this. Don't wuss out now."
So, my esteem for Ginger is lowered a bit. She was actively manipulating Brigitte for suicide.

"But what has that rat to do with Ginger grooming Bee into suicide?"
You have to put that image together with other things in the scene and see how it fits. Remember, you first meet Ginger testing a knife on her wrist. Try to remember what you first thought the conversation was about when that rat appeared, and what does Ginger say in the rat shot? "Don't wuss out on me now." The conversation is arranged so you don't know if they're talking about a slide show, yet. You're either totally lost at that point, or you guess they're discussing real suicide by then. If you haven't seen the movie prior, how can you know that they're talking about a slide show, yet? Think about the first time you saw it. What did you think the conversation was about? And right as you're thinking it, there's that rat with Ginger's hair.
It's a visual hint about her character that the director put in. I mean, you can't associate rats, even cute ones, with a good influence. I have to think placing it right there on that line shows that Ginger's affection for Brigitte is somehow devious, and putting it at the beginning makes it a "first impression."
Whether the director meant this or not, it seems that nobody noticed it because Katharine Isabelle is so cute. Nobody sees the rat even though it's so obvious.
It's open to other interpretations, though. I've just given what I think the most likely one given everything else in the scene.
There's another I haven't been able to figure out at all. At the end when Brigitte's cornered, she says, "Ginger, please, it's me!" There are different, colored lights in the room. Right as Brigitte says that, her hair is lit to give it the exact same color and shade as Ginger's. What's that cue about? I don't know. But they're very careful in the way they light shots, especially in this film. Like the rat, that's very obvious. They didn't do it by accident.
Other directors put in these "messages" or hints in. Like if you watch The Shining, there's a shot of Shelly Duvall in the room with her son and a psychiatrist. Now, her husband is abusive. If you look, she's dressed in a blue denim skirt and jacket with a red shirt. On the other side of the same shot there's a Goofy puppet on strings, and with the very same colors, very same arrangement, with shorts rather than a skirt.
In fact, The Shining is so full of those type of shots and visual hints that a completely different scary story is being told visually than the one on the screen. The real horror in that movie is not what's going on in the story. That director, Stanley Kubrick, did that all the time.

Finally, it's very hard to say that a rat was supposed to say something good about Ginger's character, or foreshadow something good about her.

2 Weeks of holidays and I still couldn't watch the movie again... Yeah that rat could mean something! Maybe they want to refer to the characteristics of the animal rat or there's also a chinese zodiac sign, which also stands for some special characteristics . It could be a hint, yes. "There's another I haven't been able to figure out at all. " There was the scene, when Brigitte changes blood with her sister in front of Sam, so that B was infected too. Maybe in that scene with the light she wants to say that they're equal. That she will be the same as Ginger in the course of time?! Not long ago, The Shining was on TV here, but unfortunately I didn't watch very carefully enough. So I think I missed the important parts But I hope they repeat it soon!
