On teh back Of My GS3 DVD It says this movie is based in 19th centry canada.....But the movie itsself says Its in the late 1800's...why the diffrences?

the 19th century is the 1800's. like we're in the 21st century and it's the 2000's.

Yeah. We list all years in the 20th century as having a 19 in front of them. This probably derives from the first century not being a quad-digit series of numbers.

the 19th century is the 1800's. like we're in the 21st century and it's the 2000's. that's some thing that have always bothered me.. why is not the year 2000 in the 20th century? was 100bc 1st century?

Okay then.
We count the centuries by (very, very roughly) the time that Jesus was born. So, the century A.D.-1 to A.D.-100 is counted as the first. However, it didn't use a hundreds measuring system. Think of it like a couple of seconds on a stopwatch; there's the miliseconds that count down, and then the full seconds start.
Hope that clears it up.
Either that or I don't have any idea what I'm talking about.

we had better change the system into a Jewish one. That way, we'll be in the future already! It would be the year 2500+ something now instead of 2006 Ano Dominii.
