I thought that the increase in dog deaths in the area led to the lack of backyards.

Well, there are no front lawns or gardens. The logical explanation is that the Beast of Bailey Downs, which was slaughtering their dogs, led many home owners to rebuild or relocate their houses so that they were closer together and, therefore, eliminating the need for dogs as pets in the area.

That sounds really dodgy. Specially considering it implies that the beast had only been around for a week or two.
where in Canada is Baily Downs supposed to be, anyway?

well bailey downs is fictional and sam said they were shot in a few different places in canada, i dont know where. But, judging from the way people talk, i suppose it's suppose to be somewhere in western canada. maybe, im just guessing (an educated guess, or hypothesis). there isn't much 'canadian raising' (as in.. for example "hey hooser, hose it goin?" something like that) in the way people talk. I think thats more in the prairies and ontario.. But i cant really say anything cos Im not from canada nor have i ever been there. Its just from what i've read.

On my way home from dinner tonight I got lost in this small village type thing with all these roads leading no where and it really reminded me of Bailey Downs. haha I swear I could almost see the wolf running out in front of my car.

Imagine Blade going there for a while. Especially considering one of the alternate endings to Blade: Trinity

wait! Alternative endings? ?? WHY? why do I always forget to watch the extras?!?!?!?!??!?!?! haha, we have a place like what you describe over here too Ali, I was walking home one night and I heard this growling just beside me in an alley, and this huge beast leaped toward me, lol. It moved alto like the GS wolves, and the thing was HUGE. Man I almost crapped my pants. After the beast had gotten me to the ground and started licking my face, I saw the dog tag, and it was my friends dog Sasha, that had runaway. Haha, my friend almost laughed he's arse off when I brought him the dog, I told him what happend. Never been that shaky before in my life...

Hahahaha!
Something like that happened to a friend of mine. He's in the navy cadets, and one day they were out in the bush doing some training thingy. He'd finished and was heading back to the base area, 'cept the path was a really shody trodden path and he ended up accidentally wondering off it. So at some point he starts to think maybe he lost the path, and also hears something behind him. He could tell from the noises it was a bigish thing, probably bigger then anything you'd generally find in the bush around here. When he stopped it stopped, and as he kept walking he could hear it get closer and closer. Eventually he came to the end of the path which he was walking along (he picked up thinking it was the path back to base). Anyway, said path ended in a cave, the floor covered in animal bones. He figured it belonged to whatever was following him, so he did an about turn and quick marched the hell out of there. Sorry I can't remember all the details, but it was really creepy.
The alternate ending to blade Trinity involves the Night stalkers going after werewolves ;D.

whoa, he never found out what it was? don't suppose it was a bear? We have a lot of wolves and Bears around here, now and then we hear about sheep's and pets get ripped open like crackers, killed in gruesome and messy ways.. Like this hunter once, He was out hunting Elk with he's dawg, at some point the dog disappeared, suddenly he heard some roars and the dog barking like a maniac, when the hunter reached the spot the ruckus came from, he found only the head of the dog.. Think I'll go make a "Encounters in the wilderness" tread, could be funny

It would not have been nice if you did crap in your pants.. I gather it is certainly a very not pleasant experience.
