Well, according to a Finn (ie. of Finland) i know, he says many people get caught for illegal downloading. But not overhere anyway. I find it not easy to believe that you get caught. Only if you are a major seeder of files, then maybe you're more likely to get caught. But anyone just smooching and leeching will not get caught!

Ah man, you're right. better not be any of those guys here? Boelike, are you one of them? he he, I'm not one of them ;D -- with "download rapist" I mean people that are out to catch and punish people that downloads stuff, since it's pretty illegal and stuff. hence "download rapists" they rape people that downloads. I hear many people in Finland (and maybe perhaps in Norway too?) that so many people get caught downloading things illegally off the net. But over there, it is soo relaxed that I could download whole discographies in a matter of hours. I once downloaded a metallica live album from the 80's that took only 5 minutes to download. yeah, you're pretty lucky over there.. here you always think twice before downloading.. And our broadband is so sucky that it takes days to download movies (HD ones that is) -- I don't burn dvds, not that I'm against it, but if I like something I jsut buy it. but my buddy will randomly burn me dvds and bring them to me...and everytime I see the FBI warning at the beginning I laugh my ass off. nobody in the US gets in trouble for pirating dvds. Yeah, I don't burn either.. and I usually don't download things like Movies and games. I've seen to many great works going under because of poor sales and stuff... some things may have survived if it had not been pirated -- Wait.....people get arrested for downloading?! Yeah, our countries has been brought up by prudes and egoists, and you see what good comes out of that -- Well, according to a Finn (ie. of Finland) i know, he says many people get caught for illegal downloading. But not overhere anyway. I find it not easy to believe that you get caught. Only if you are a major seeder of files, then maybe you're more likely to get caught. Now, downloading another GSIII torrent file again. Will be finished in 3 hours.

Actually in some cases downloading can be good, for example people can download and see shows that they normally couldn't get too, and if they really liked it they're more likely to buy the DVD. I heard that the new Battle star Galactica didn't go over so well in America in the beginning, but in Englind people started downloading it, loved it, told all their friends to watch it, word spread and when it came out in England it was a huge it.
Another thing is, if realeases of movies weren't staggered around the world then there would be much less downloading. Imho if the movies where showing all over the world at the same time then people wouldn't bother downloading, they'd just go see it. On the other hand I do have shitty friends who download stuff even though its easily available at the vid store or the movies. Assholes.

Yes, you are Right of course, that in some cases downloading had a rather good effect, I've even heard some directors (mainly my cousin as she works as an independent documentary director) say that the marketing they get form downloaders is more then they could pay for.. (she also don't care about the credit's so much. As she says "It's about the message" too bad that can't be said about movies in general) But then again there is those sad incidents of things going right down the toilet because of downloading...

It was some of the coldest months recording in years down here recently. I'm glad that it's only cold at night now, but sometimes it gets too hot.
